Question HELP knocking noise

I have a knocking noise coming from the rear of my roundtail spider, at first i thought it might be the exhaust as i've put a new one on, but having checked this jiggled it around a bit had people bounce on the rear suspension etc. i'm pretty confident it's not, some people have suggested UJ's, propshaft supports etc. is this likely.
It only seems to occur when pulling away or when taking the foot of the gas and then reapplying and it's a knocking not vibration

Knocking as in a continuous noise or a single sharp noise when you pick up or let off the throttle?

If the latter, that does sound kinda u-joint-y as when you step on the gas they'll slam one way, then when you let off they'll slam the other.

Vibration may or may not be present dependant upon how much wear/egg shape they've gotten since the needle bearings failed. (or if the wrong size joints were put in last time around)

a series of thumps, about 4 ususally, indicates driveline problemns, my 74 did this in first and sometimes in second under heavy load. I had it in the shop to replace u joints, and the rubber doughnut. they also replaced the carrier bearing, and rear transmission mount and the thumps went away. not too sure whitch it was, just glad its gone.

HELP Knocking noise (update)

Took my roundtail out the weekend to try and determine the source of the knocking, it's definiately related to the propshaft area, when you pull away or declutch and re-engage gear there are several knocks from the rear area, bit like a bowling ball rolling about, i am inclinded to think it is when the prop is first put under load.
Got the car up in the air and inspected the propshaft, doesn't seemto be anything apparent, however you can twist the rear section of propshaft from side to side and it clunks, is this UJ or support bearing related?
Any help would be appreciated.
