gear oil

I'm going to flush my transmission and rear end (with factory LSD) and pump in some new gear oil... reading some old posts I still have a few questions.

There are three oils I see recommended typically;

Shell Spirax 80W90
Shell Spirax 75W/90
RedLine 75W90 NS

So what's the general consensus? A, B, or C?

Is a modifier (like this CRC Industries Automotive) required in the rear end?

Welcome to the BB.

re: gear oils - you left out option D. Any of the above.

P.S. we'd like to see some pictures of your Spider. We likes pictures!

For the rear end, nearly anything that meets GL-5 standards should work fine. Beyond that you're splitting hairs. Spirax 80W90 or Redline 75W90 are common choices. You don't need to add friction modifier to those.

Redline 75W90NS has no LSD friction modifier in it so generally it's not for the differential.
