Tonneau Cover
Hi
I managed to get a new tonneau cover in tan for the S4 today
Very happy and desperate to get it fitted. However, it came with the cover, 2 plastic bits shaped like hockey sticks and various metal and plastics fixings but no instructions
It has me baffled
If anyone have one of these covers can you explain how to fix them to the car? I guess it clips onto to the chrome trim around the back but I can't even see how the clips attach to the cover.
Any pics would be superb
Thanks

You mean a boot cover, right? Just covers the top when it's down?
I think there were several styles for the S4. Best check some pictures.

John, yes it's for when the roof is down - hopefully the attached pictures will help
I have 2 hockey stick shaped pieces of plastic which go either side of the car, I'm just confused how the fixing pieces work - these are also shown - I have approx 12 of each of these as shown in the picture - the white plastic bit goes onto the chrome trim around the outside of the parcel shelf.
I can't see if I need to make holes in the cover
So, if anyone has got one like this and can explain how I fix it on I'd appreciate the info very much.
Thanks

Looks odd, as the plastic fasteners don't relate to the cover that uses the "hockey sticks". The sticks should be fastened to the cover and connect the cover to the car. The long side is essentially supposed to go along the long side of the car, the L turns into the car. There is a chrome strip on the back of the car that has a special bolt that sticks up and allows the stick to fasten down. The clips might be for the other style cover that does not use the hard parts. I will try to take a few pics of mine later (when the sun is up) to illustrate.

Side note:
If your cover ends up not needing those small white clips w/metal bits, you can likely get them to other board members that do use them at a rate cheaper than some of the pirates, um, retailers sell thiers for and still make a small bit of $$ back on your purchase. (I'll leave looking up the bits to you, but suffice to say the rate that gets charged for them at some places is outright obscene, especially when considering that style boot uses around 10-12 of them)
If nothing else, just hang onto the things to mabe barter with at a later date, but whatever you do for Pete's sake, don't just toss them out.

Thanks Mark - first attempt ended with scratching the paint work
I'm really annoyed after paying the best part of $400 for this that no instructions were included and by the looks of it the wrong parts were supplied or I may have to adapt the cover to fudge it - not really what you expect for that money.
It's far too early in the day to start drinking but I sure could do with one

Thanks John - that makes sense even to me and I can see the bungee rope working from my previous failed attempt - so I may have a mix of fixings?
When you say the 'hockey sticks' insert into side pockets of the cover, I don't have any pockets, just a flap of the leatherette which doesn't seem sufficient to hold the stick in place.
Here's a picture of the back of mine - does anyone have a pic of the back with the hockey stick in place?
Igbalfa - it is new from classicalfa.com - a great bunch of guys but I guess these are a pretty infrequent item to be sold
It's apparently sunny tomorrow
Thanks for the help peeps - Bryce

Here is my factory tonneau. Two views of it off the car and another pair on the car.

Here are a few more pictures that may help. Two staples at each end. The staples go through the little flaps and plastic only. They (the staples) are not folded over on the other side, but are cut off flush with the plastic surface. Adhesive is used around the edges as well.

Ah-Ha!! Glue! Never thought of that - hopefully I can get some tonight and have it ready for the morning
Thanks to all - I'll take some pics with the new look.
I like John's bungee cable idea - I suppose it would stop the centre from drooping.
So, I have a lot of very expensive clips which are not required.
Great guys, thanks again. Bryce

Spidey,
Hope all works out for you. Looks like you have what you need. Just be careful of those plastic clips that are at the straight end of the "hockey sticks". They break easy. And if they do, buy the metal replacements as they are only $10 to $15 more than the plastic and will last a lot longer.
And I have to say, "THIS IS A GREAT COMMUNITY TO BE A PART OF!", where you can get experieced and very helpful people jumping in to solve your problems.
Such a great place!

hocke sticks
Those plastic hockey sticks look like the ones on my S3 used to hold the convertible top cover to the chrome trim on the sides of the car.
