Pictures and description of the not often discussed (or even known about in some cases) thermostat bypass valve that's located in the hose that goes from the bottom of the manifold at the T-stat end down to the water pump.
Off-site link to a description with schematics of the purpose and function.
Orientation is with the small hole shown in 2nd pic toward the T-stat.
Pics of the actual valve itself as supplied by BattleBug a couple years back:
More pix added as supplied by Pat Garrett

Pic showing the common location of the warning buzzers, or chimes if you prefer, for the seatbelt and 'key in ignition with door ajar'.
They are the two small white or gray rectangular boxes on the side of the steering column support plate.
Sorry, I don't know who originally posted the pic, but thank you for sharing just the same.

Steering wheel removal
How about some advice on how to get rid of those awfully-stuck steering wheels - without destroying half the car in the process?
(An Alfetta thread, but the problem is universal.)

A big long thread to go through with all sorts of thoughts and ideas on engine cooling fans.
Is switching to an electric fan worth it?

Three methods to repair solenoid activated VVT's rubber bushing.
VVT or not VVT? That is the question...

Fuse Box Upgrade
Here is a link to a thread in which the ever knowledgeable Tifosi describes how he updated his fuse box from the old VW bullet style to modern minifuse:

Scroll down to the bottom of Page 8 and continue on Page 9. Great stuff, as ever.
