aggravating antenna question

Hi, so i recently took the electric antenna out of my spider (it is installed on the driver side of the trunk) and I have some pieces that i can't seem to get back in the right order. If you look at the picture I've labeled 1,2,3 - the 3 pieces that seem to fit nowhere! Any ideas would be awsome!

#3 looks like its the dress up cap (or even the locknut if it's internally threaded) that goes on the outside/top of the fender stacked at the top of the pile and holds the antenna in/on.

The again, it could be the cup that the tilt pivot rides in if that one is capable of such an act.

Can you get a brighter and mabe a bit closer pic of all the parts?

Piece # 3 goes on the shaft first and goes inside the fender. The teeth are supposed to bite into the fender itself and hold the antenna at the proper angle. The other two washers are for asthetics. One should be flat the the other concave. If one is rubber, it will also do double duty as a seal. Place this one directly on the fender. It should be the first item after the atenna has gone through the fender. The cap then goes on top.

Correction: piece #1 bites the fender

ok so let me get this straight it goes: piece 3 on shaft (inside car), then piece1 on top of piece 3 with the teeth facing into the sheet metal, then the metal from the car sandwhiched with the finished cromes stuff on top? What does seal 2 do then? sorry lol

The #1 piece slides over the shaft of your antenna, with the curved side up, biting into the metal of your car on the back side. The reason that ti is curved is to allow you to tilt the antenna base, so that your antenna shaft will follow the slope of your fender (or be straight up, if you wish). The threaded section of piece #1 will then extend up above the fender enough for you to apply the hold-down nut and then put on the chrome trim piece. #2 is a trim piece that goes underneath your chrome trim piece, so that water does not get in. I hope that all helps.

Antenna question

#2 goes underneath the chrome trim piece that is in the upper right hand corner in your picture (not one of the numbered pieces). That acts like a gasket to keep rain from coming in underneath that trim piece - and it also serves to not scratch your paint.

thanks for the help guys. Unfortunately there is a sad ending to this story. I finally go it installed and it was in solid with no wobbling about and i closed the trunk lid, however, the antenna had shifted about an inch since i had checked trunk lid clearance. I ended up snapping the damn thing in half:'( Oh well
