Speedometer

My speedometer on my 91 spider is not quite working the odometer is working as is the trip odometer, but when stoped the speedometer is reading 20mph and approx. at 65mph it is reading 40mph. Do i need a new cable or a new speedometer sender.

I've just picked up my new '90 and was warned that the speedo did not work properly. Previous owner was right! Registered about 40mph at any speed and would work itself up to about 50 over a longer drive. Later a Alfa repair person in San Diego (Danny Pluth in Poway) told me that it needed to be calibrated. Have you checked into that? I haven't yet but I will as I just finished about a 2500 mile drive from Oregon to Texas by way of San Diego, driving by tach only.
