Assistance for alloy wheels

Goodmorning Alfisti. I have recently acquired a 1300 spider junior 1973 to compliment my S4 1991. However and as I am in the process of a complete restoration (new paint job, floors etc) I saw some alloy wheels that I really like (photo). Can you pls identify them for me (name?) and whether they will fit my car (size, offset)? Finally does anyone know where I can acquire them? Sincerely, Dimitris

Those are Turbina Wheels. They came stock with our Spiders from the factory. They were not popular for years because they are hard to clean and many do not like the look. I happen to love the look, and I also found out that many are changing their mind on these wheels. One reason for the change of heart is because they are light. They are strong and racers like them. Some say 13 pounds. Mine were closer to 15 pounds, but I still love them. I had a local car detailer clean them up and now they look great.

My wheels were stamped with this information on them:
Alfa Romeo 5 1/2 JX 14", Campanatura 38, Campagnolo

I can not help you with locating them, but if anyone else here has a lead, speak up, cause I might like to replace my spare tire wheel. The battery leaked on mine and corroded the center cap area. Yuk!

Here is a photo of my car with my wheels:

Thanks a lot for that. I happen to love these alloy wheels and they will look fantastic (in my humble opinion) on my car. Thanks once more, Dimitris

You'll very likely have to change the wheel studs to fit alloys on a Junior which originally came with steel wheels. Two different manufacturers made these wheels for Alfa; Campagnolo and Cromodora. The designs are very slightly different, so make sure you get a set where all 4 match. Watch for corrosion in the hub and center cap area, too. If you need to strip the paint, do not media blast, as the alloy material is very soft, and they also do not accept powdercoating well.

Those campy's are the lighter (slightly) of the two types, and to my eye, the better-looking.

Hi Roadtrip, how did you get your wheels to look like that/

Have just bought a 1979 Spider 2000 with the same wheels, condition is good but they could do with a sprucing up! Would love to get them looking like yours!

Nothing exotic, just a bit of work. Remove from the car and completely degrease the entire wheel. I left the tires on the rims. This takes a lot of scrubbing and work. I used several sized brushes and some steel wool when necessary. After that, I scraped off any loose paint, then carefully wiped-down/washed the wheel in mineral spirits, then painted them with Duplicolor Silver Wheel paint and finished with clearcoat. I replaced the old center cap discs with new ones. They just pop out or might have a retainer ring depending on the year. Installing the center discs is with a proper sized socket used to tap them into place. I replaced the OEM lugnuts (all beat up and not chrome plated) with new ones from the local auto parts store. You can also get them on the internet. Be sure you get the correct taper.
