Replacement of rear convertible window?

I just bought a 1985 Spider and the rear window is "fogged" up and after a few hours using multiple plexi cleaners I've given up on that route. I was initially thinking I'd replace the whole top myself, but after a bit of research on this site realize it might be a much more serious job than I first thought. As the top is in decent shape other than the window, I wondered if there is a DIY fix for this or if someone has hired such a job out? Maybe there is already an existent thread that I missed.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Jeremy

BTW--I'm in the Triangle area of NC so if someone has hired someone in the area for such a repair I'd appreciate that info as well.

No help on that issue, but after you have a clear rear window, always use something soft to keep it safe when folded. The rubbing of the plastic against itself, especially if it has any dirt or grit, will cause the yellowing much faster than you will want.

usually people just replace the whole top instead of only the plastic window.

from threads that i have read to just replace the window you have to remove the top off and with the labor and everything it makes more sense to just replace everything.

some spider convertible tops have removable zipper windows but i am sure you would have mentioned it if that was the case for you.

With the labor cost involved, I don't know if it would make much economic sense to just do the window.

Wait... are you telling me you can drive the car with the top up?

Ok... any top shop / upholstery place can replace the rear window but as stated the labor doesn't change... the top needs to be removed for them to sew it in. I always thought if I went this route I'd put in a zipper'ed in window.

This is a thread mentioning a zippered rear window. It does not remove, however, it just flaps down being zippered on only 3 of the 4 sides.

Thanks again & regards.
