Update on '83 Veloce and another question.
Thought I'd post an update on my project. Dug into the sticking throttle this morning, had my kid push the gas pedal while I nosed around under the hood, after lubing the pivot points on the fire wall I discovered that the bell crank was the problem. Apparently someone else had the same problem, it is bent and kind of scarred up. I removed it, cleaned it good with solvent and tried to straighten the short arm, it was bent out and may have been part of the problem. Got the whole thing back together in time to drive her to work, my co-workers hadn't seen the car yet, they were duly impressed. On my way home the throttle became kind of hard to push again so I pulled the bell crank again, cleaned it even better and used a light penetrating oil and a heavy lithium grease to lube it, worked the grease in for about 10 minutes and re-installed. I'll find out tomorrow if it worked.
Now for the question, it concerns windshield wipers... is there a way I can test the motor? I'm unfortunately inept with a multi-meter (I know that owning an Alfa may give me plenty of practice!) any advice on how to test the wiring for the wipers? It is a 4 wire and I think three speed (there are three positions besides off on the stalk switch) motor. If I need a new one what can I expect to pay?
Thanks again for any advice!
Dave
