Ant tips on removing this nut?

Got the gearbox out, but noticed that main nut is kinda narrow, and socket cant quite get a "bite" on it. In addition, the space arount the nut is so tight, the socket wont seat in there to hit bottom.

Its a 32mm socket, but man, tdo I need some kinda thin wall impact socket to get in there, to remove? I take it ou MUST use an impact wrench, too??

Thaks,
Joe

Joe,

I was able to get the nut off by using a 3/4" drive chrome socket. The 3/4" drive socket is a tad deeper than 1/2' drive scokets and the chrome socket is thinner wall than an impact socket.

I took a brand new 32 mm spindle socket (sold at most auto parts stores and needed for its length) and used my grinder to flatten out the end to remove the beveled ends so it would seat down on the thin nut. I also had to grind away some of the outside diameter so it would also fit into the space. Another special tool added to my collection of Alfa tools
