Fuel Injector Service ends "SOOTY" exhaust

My 87 Quad has 82K mi and I had no real complaints; mileage (mostly hwy) was good, emissions good, performance good, idle good.
My reliability engineering background led me to plan for preventive maintenance of the FI's over the winter hibernation of Ms Martellina P.
Sent off the injectors for blueprinting and was surprised to find that 3 were found to have a "FAIR" and 1 had a "FAIL" spray pattern rating. The FAIL guy was also NOT delivering any where near the "pulsed flow delivery" of the others (less than 25%).
The service did not find any plugged inlet screens and I have neen using Techron, though only once a year.
I can report that the motor power is noticeably better with the serviced injectors which now can deliver about 10% more 90 second pulsed fuel flow (from the Cruzin before/after test results).
Most important seems to be that there is no noticeable "SOOTY" splatter from the tailpipe, and the plugs appear to be burning a LOT cleaner.

Blueprinting your Injectors, when you consider you get new upper and lower seals included, seems to be a very cost effective investment!

Best regards, Elio

Sorry for any confusion. I was not trying to be cryptic just did not want to be commercial.

As far as "work" I did it myself and can give you a number of suggestions that can save y"all a lot of time. (Like just cut the injector fuel hoses separating the injector and the rail. Send the injector, and the rail with the old fuel hose attached. Cruzin has a tool to remove the old stuff without damaging the barbs!)

Ultrasonic cleaning and blueprinting I used was:
Cruzin Performance
916 West Ave
Big Rapids, MI 49307
(231 796 5705) Rich Jensen

Alfa Romeo Bulletin Board & Forums

Charge was $16 per injector plus shipping ( includes seals, screen and pintle cap)

Duke and Radamm PM me if I left out any info......

Best regards, Elio

Go to Cruzin Performance website...

They do a series of flow tests and spray pattern and leak tests as received.

They untrasonically solvent clean then they repeat the tests.
Flow tests are done both static and pulsed.
Each Fuel Injector is serial #'d.
They change the internal filter and pintle cap and provide new upper and lower inj seals.
They give you a print out of all parameters, as received and after the service.

TTFN Elio

Putting in a new (rebuilt) TA and personally dialing it in myself, ended a lot of warm-up soot that use to go on the white side upright of my garage door (much to the dissatisfaction of my wife).

Cruzin did my 164's injectors. They are competent, thorough and very affordable.

Ditto, they did my Verde injectors. Found one that was bad and let me send another from the parts stash and didn't charge me any extra.

These are some pretty good reports about Cruzin... I think it's time to send mine out, as none of the ones on either series 3 Spider have ever been serviced... (I just wish I had made this decision before next week's convention Time Trials. ) Anyway, I really appreciate the feedback provided.

Best regards,
