Who says Spider's aren't "Green"

Relocated to the DC area and drove my '91 S4 down from New England the other weekend. I averaged 36mpg on the first fill-up and 38mpg on the second. Cruised down I-95 most of the way at about 70mph....she purrrred along like a true lady.

Also gotta add that the Italian girl was getting all sorts of attention from passing cars...lots of honks, waves, and head turns....a fun trip and great weather as well...who could ask for a more sensible car!

Wow, good gas mileage. Have you done anything to the engine?

I thought you were talking about paint color since I have a GREEN 1974 Spider... but yeah I was surprised to see mine getting 26 to 28 mpg around town on the last two tanks.

The best I ever got in my S4 was 38mpg. That was with the top up and no A/C. Usually average 30+ around town but it hard to keep my foot out of it. It seems like it just want to be upwards of 3500 rpm to get that big smile going.

welcome to the republic of DC

Always good to have another alfa in DC. There are three red spiders in my Columbia Heights neighborhood (including my 79). Never checked my gas milage, as I only drive on weekends. Also have historic plates from Virginia, since my car would not pass any kind of inspection, due to the engine mods.
Good luck and welcome- let me know if you need any advice for local shops, etc.
