temporay front license plate - how should i secure?
i need to get my car inspected in may and i currently dont use a front license plate here in new york state.
i dont feel like re-attaching the two metal brackets back on just to put the license plate back on for the inspection.
does anyone have any suggestions on how i can secure the license plate in the front of the car temporily just for the inspection without using the brackets?
thanks

If you heat hup the tape gently with a hair drier you will not encounter any problem (unless it is a freshly repainted car)
Can't you stick it to the bumper, just for your inspection?

In Utah I never had an issue with placing the plate on the dash. I got probably a dozen cars inspected and not one was rejected for having the plate on the dash (the single most common problem was a rusty exhaust pipe )
Otherwise, try using those little white plastic clip things? I can't think of what they're called right now.. you know, the ones you cut off after you use.

maybe the little plastic ties (zip ties?) used to hold bunches of electric wire and things together? I would stay away from tape between the possibility of the plate flying down the road and the ue, etc.

Igbalfa, who did you source your rear lights through when you changed them out? Mine are mismatched in the rear and I like the newer style with the more translucent white band vs. the the darker white....thanks

Borrow a Dealer Plate Holder. It is like a clear plastic envelope with ties.
Alternatively get a few plastic nylon ties, link them up for length, put sone cardboard for backing and tiewrap the plate (both sides) to the bumper, where the brackets would have gone.

Temporary Front License Plate - How Should I Secure? / Zip Ties

In my area they come in several colors, depending on source and quantity purchased: bright orange, black, white, and clear, although, the later is the hardest to find without buying a product with them, like trash bags.
Personally, I like the dealer plate idea the best -- I had thought of the zip ties, but didn't post it because in California, I'm afraid that would not be considered a permanent attachment, leaving room for them to argue that the plate was only there for inspection and then would be removed or for the driver to have to come up with some creative story about how the plate fell off on the way to the station and that was the best you could do with what you had.

Those zap straps are tough, put my plate on for a while with them, no worries about the plate coming off.

i got my rear tail lights from Alfissimo International - Tel: +1 480-858-9156 /Contact@Alfissimo.com. ask for jason - he is a regular contributor to this board.
mine are the darker european style. at the time of my order he had the american white stripe style. if he doesnt have the white stripe in stock ask him if he can order them. they are very affordable compared to buying OEM.
they are of excellent quality and the fit and finish is excellent.
new tail lights from alfissimo.com

i had been thinking about using the zip ties but just wanted to get other creative feedback.
i like this idea of just putting the plate on the dash.
do you think it will work in NY?
