Center Console Repair

I have the the console out to replace the trans. boots and to put on a new leather boot. The thin (the real THIN-0.5mm) piece of plastic that has the writing on it has come loose, the PO had used hot glue to fix the places that come loose but it did not work, so I took it completly off and cleaned up both sides.
I am thinking some kind of really thin double sided sticky plastic sheet that can be applied to one side and trimmed out then applied to the other side. Anyone had any luck with this kinda fix?
Thanks for any help,
Ben Gibbs

How about some epoxy. I've used it to stick pealing up vinyl on the side back down and after six months it's still holding tight.

Contact cement is what's used to stick vinyl to guitar amp cabinets. Sticking vinyl to the center console seems to be an analogous application.

Thanks John and Bob,
I thought about the epoxy, but it is so thin (the epoxy) that I am afraid that I would have it every where by the time I got the two pieces together.
The contact cement might be the way to go, paint both sides let them dry then line them up and stick. The only thing is I am not sure how the top piece would be affected by the cement. It seems to be a thin clear piece of plastic with all of the paint on the back side. I would hate for the cement bubble up the paint.
If anyone else has any ideas let me know. I really don't want to screw this up. THANKS again for the help.

Try Goop. It comes in various varieties (shoe, outdoor, marine, sports,) which as far as I can tell are about the same. But it works really well. Clear, strong, a bit flexible. VERY smelly.
