Thumbs up Rolling again!

I finally have my recently acquired Spider back on the road...lots of work still needed but we had a blast driving her around today.

So far:

New wheels and tires (thanks Anthony)
Replace Lh studs on one wheel only
Rewire ignition, fuel pump, etc to resolve POs wiring enhancements :
Rebuild handbrake

Day spent driving in the California sunshine

Marc

A red roundtail - excellent. It looks to be in great condition. May the spirit of Benjamin Braddock be with you.

My only suggestion - get a set of the Carello perspex headlight covers - I think they really do enhance the look of the roundtail a lot. My car came without them, and putting them on, was one of the better things I've done to my car.

(All my opinion of course)

Great ride there!! To me, there is no other car that delivers as many smiles per mile as my Roundtail...here's hoping that you get at least 10,000 smiles a year!

The Carello headlight covers do look good, but they tend to warp and discolor over time. So, if you get a set...be prepared to maintain them and replace them once in a while. I am lucky, as my 1300 Junior didn't come with the covers originally...so I don't feel guilty about not having them on my car.

PS: Matteo, your car icon looks great too! Hope you and and family are all well.

Cheers,

Marc, great looking car! Can I ask where you got the LH studs? There's one lug nut on the rear of my car where when I try to remove it, the whole stud turns, so I'm going to have to perform some sort of lugectomy and then replace it. (I know, everyone will suggest that I just change them all over to RH studs, and I will someday, but for now I just want to replace the one stud.) I haven't looked around yet to see where I can get a LH stud, so I don't know if they're hard to find, but you seem to have found them, so maybe I don't need to look.

LH Studs

Hi Bob,

Actually what I did was replace the LH studs on the front hub with RH studs. The rear hub had already been converted to RH.

If I was going to pull the rear axle to fix that one stud, I would probably change them all to RH, unless you are concerned with originality. If you want to keep them LH and can't find a replacement, let me know and I will let you have one of the ones I just replaced.

Marc

Well, I'm not that concerned with originality that I wouldn't eventually replace them all with RH studs. To be honest, though, I haven't looked into what it takes to replace them, so it was news to me that I'd have to pull the axle! I guess this is something I should consider as an over-the-winter project (or one of them, anyway). And I just bought new LH lugnuts, too!
