1600 Duetto vs 1750 trim questions

Yes, I'm prejudiced since another one of my client's 1750 is featured in Original Alfa Romeo Spider by Chris Rees on contents page, page one and is the featured US 1750 - but the book really is a good reference source for finding the differences between the various Series (1 thru 4) and the differences between the US and Euro versions.

I just checked and the Euro 1750 as well as the 1300 Juniors have a single yellow round side marker in the same location as the US 1750's but have no rear red sidemarkers.

My client's 1750 which Vivace included does have 14" wheels. The confusion over 15" ones might stem from a comment I made regarding buying a set of five 15" Duetto wheels which I will install on my own 1750 Spider.

No one mentioned the covered headlamps on the above straw colored 1750 Spider. They're my solution for having covered headlamps with actual rims (as opposed to skinny rings) and the headlamps are mounted from the front rather than behind from under the wheel well.

Speaking of differences within the same model: This is darn minor, but when James Mann was photographing my client's Spider he was a bit disappointed the DUCO paint sticker was only about 2/3rds complete. I told him the one on my 1750 Spider was in pretty good shape so he photographed it for the book. Both cars are and were originally (the same) red, but the the paint code number is different between the two.

As long as I've segued to paint code stickers, I frisketed off the one on the Straw Spider before painting then later removed it. Frisket is a translucent material and was used by air brushers to 'frisket off' a section where they didn't want to get paint. In their case it then easily peeled off. With automotive paint I had to use an Xacto knife to cut around the 'bump'. A little ragged on the edges but the client loved the fact I saved it.

Okay, I believe I've tooted my own horn enough for the day (or longer).

Without further info, IMO it is a red/black Alfa Romeo roundtail spider, ca 1967-1970. I've seen some really mangled cars (others generously call "customized") in my brief Alfa life (37 years). Next . . . .
