Duetto hardtop
I have just bought a 1969 Duetto with a hard top as I am the second owner of this car I was confirmed by the previous owner(first owner) that this car does not have a soft top since it was new is it possible?

LOL, rubbish. They came with the soft top and the hard top was an option, costing a fortune in those days. So, you should have a soft top and a top frame. Soft tops are on the market, but frames are kinda tricky to find. Please join the Alfa Romeo Spider Register by Wille R.

yeah, why would anyone want to buy a convertible without a convertible top......is the first owner saying he never had the top down? Should have bought a GTV instead
BTW, congrats on your purchase...show more pics!!!

Great car! In your search for a top frame you'll be looking for one from a '66-'69 model. The tops for Kamm tail spiders are not the same. I've seen the frames range from $200 - $400. Not easy to find and not easy to ship. Good luck.

thanks for the replies, now I am in for a nationwide search for the frames. But it might be impossible for where I live, I live in Bangkok, Thailand. So i guess I have to buy it from anywhere when one comes along.
I will get more pics on the board as now the car is in the bodyshop.

Anukorn,
Try Richard Norris at Classic Alfa ( Classic Alfa Romeo Parts & Spares Worldwide - Bertone, Spider & More). If he doesn't have one, try Ian Ellis (ianellisalfas.co.uk)- he has a loft full of bits. They are both in the UK, but will post to you (although it may cost a bit). I once sent a GTV dash, complete with instruments from UK to Thailand, which cost about 90 GB pounds postage- probably about the same weight. If they do have one, and the fabric is still attached, it wi probably worth getting them to remove the canvas unless it is in really good condition. Having tried all sorts of different tops, the canvas ones from Convertible tops, mazda convertible tops, custom car truck interiors are very reasonably priced, fit well and are good quality, and they also send overseas.

I may have a Soft top Frame, but it's in the US
I have two Duetto's with bad tops, but the frames are serviceable. I probably only need one, so I could sell the other, however, it's in the US (Wisconsin) and would probably be a bear to ship overseas.

Any chance of some photos of the interior? It looks as if you have strange instruments, and the door cards look 'unusual'.

When I bought my '67 Duetto four years ago, it did have the required soft top frame, but no top and the cast parts on the frame were all either cracked or broken. It proved a difficult search to find replacement parts. However, eventually, I found a nice replacement frame on a Duetto being parted out in Montana USA and had it shipped it back to Australia (an expensive shipment!) No problems since with the "new" frame.
Meanwhile, my broken old frame finally went to a Spider/Duetto collector/parts yard in Penrith, Sydney, where I think it still remains. The owner may also still have a number of sets of replacement castings I think. Will check and advise the BB.

During sometime of life for this duetto it was turned into a drag racer by the son of the original owner and he changed the intruments on the dash boards into "auto meters" he tld me that he still has the originals but he needs time to get it sort out.
Thanks for all the advice anyway!!!

I may be incorrect, but I think there is a Duetto top and frame assembly on US ebay right now.
