Duetto 1966 top seal advice
Need to clearify if this seal is mounted the right way. A friend says it should be facing the other way. Just to make sure before I apply with glue.
There are two "lips" on the seal, one is bigger than the other one, the smaller being straight, the bigger one kinda rolled. Should the small straight be facing the front of the top or should the bigger rounded flap be doing this?
Reason for asking is whens I scanned the square tail top installation manual, the seal looks different. I know the tops are different, but the seal puzzles me.
Thanks.

Hm, nothing so far. OK, here is a drawing. The pic shows the top frame when fully open and seen from driver's side, LHD Duetto as the pictures above. Any ideas, please?

Thanks anyway. I think there are a lot of various seals, but mine is original, replaced years ago.
Thanks.

Very odd, I got seven replies for a silly question about cup hoilder, but only one in this IMHO serious question. Again, is the seal in the right way???

top seal
Sorry my 67 Duetto looks different than that.
I have only one big seal with the other part of the seal being held with a plastic retainer strip.
I replaced mine with a top from IAP over 17 years ago so maybe mine is not original.
Are you certain that you are not missing the plastic retainer strip?
If you would like photos of mine just PM me and I will take a few.

Your drawing on how you plan to install the gasket does not look right to me, as I don't see how the upper portion of top will seal properly. Now, I don't own a Duetto, but here is a thread with a picture that should better illustrate the answer you are looking for: "69 Spyder Top Question".
Best regards,

Many thanks, link showed just what I was looking for. My seal was mounted the wrong way. I have replaced it, took only ten minutes. I checked the seal whith top closed pre and after replacement. Now it is 100 percent tight. It is very logical that the "flap" should be the other way.
So, once again, thanks for your answer.
Danke.

I beleive you had it the wrong way. The rounded flap should be facing the edge of the top. This way, the rain will have to pass two seals = dry inside. My seal is not original, but looks like the seal on my 1967 Duetto when I replaced the top 14 years ago.
It will work bo´th ways, but if you look at the pic below, you see it's more logical with the rounded flap facong forward when top is closed. Just my 0.02
