cylinder leak or water pump problem ?

Spider 2.0 mid 70's Euro engine

Head gasket replaced 190 psi on all cylinders

Water pump replaced ( new alfetta unit ?? - no fan mounting)

Cooling system now appears to be pressurised - coolant blows past new rad cap ( didnt happen before )

The question is could this be caused by the new water pump or would a cylinder leak still show high compression?

Any help greatly appreciated!!

Any UK Alfisti got a good 2.0 unit for sale?

Did you bleed the cooling system at the water pump and manifold after the repair?

Thanks for the advice - prolonged bleeding helped. ( no bleed screw on new waterpump). I still get a little pressure escaping into the expansion bottle is this normal?

Poor guality rad cap?

Thanks

Does not sound right - if you have access to a tester check for combustion gases in the coolant. Watch fluid levels as you race engine. If there should be a restrictor in the thermostat housing/hose be sure it is still there.

And of course, Re-Torque the cylinder head.
