warning lights (fuel/oil)

I have a 78 spider alfa and the warning lights for the oil and fuel don't work! How do I check the bulbs? I am having fuel problems and would like to see if the fuel light is coming on. Car will run smooth until I floor it. Oil pressure gage works fine and is ok. Fuel pump is original and very suspect. Checked intank pump and seems ok. Now I want to check the warning light bulbs but don't know how to get to them. Help!! PS I checked the fuse #4 and it is ok.

both lights work by grounding the switch. there is a wire connected to the spica fuel filter, if you ground it, the fuel light should come on. there should be 12 volts on the switch with the key on if the bulb and wireing is good. the oil pressure switch is located near the oil filter and works the same way, the switch grounds when the pressure is low to light the bulb.
