Clutch Problems

Hey guys... This is my first time posting here... awesome board! My dad has a 1963 Gulia Spider and we have the entire car back together with new engine and one of his old transmissions... Anyways the clutch will not fully disengage... It is fully adjusted and will not fully disengage... when you drive the car if it is rolling you can shift gears just fine, but from a stop you cannot hardly get it into gear... Also if you look at the clutch and the throw out bearing it is not in round... the throw out bearing is moving all over the place and when it goes to engage it has like a slap slap slap sound where its not round... does anyone know what is going on? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated... Is one of the springs bad on the clutch? is the throw out bearing gone?

Doesn't sound like you're getting full disengagement of the driven disk. This could occur because of drag due to some broken pieces jammed in the assembly, but as you just had it disassembled, that's not likely.
I am posting two pages of the shop manual for the clutch & throwout bearing to help you visualize the assembly. I suppose it's too late to suggest that whenever you have things apart as you did a new throwout bearing and driven disk is cheap insurance, as is a careful inspection of the pressure plate assembly.
Note the "S" dimension shown in the center of page 77 (second post). Can you remember if the graphite ring was smooth, square, and still projecting from the face? If not, that could be creating the wobble you describe.
If you are satisfied that you've taken up all adjustment possible, you may need to pull it back apart and replace the bearing, disk, and perhaps the pressure plate.
Good Luck

Keven's comment (below, something screwy about the posting time) about the zero oil pressure might explain why you run up to 7800 RPM (in the avatar), then die to nothing. Hope it's not like that in real life. Expensive if it is....

BostinZX,

Welcome to the board. While I have no advice for your clutch problem,
I did want to tell you I really like your Avatar, very cool.

You might want to check the oil pressure, as it is reading zero
thru the rev range
