1988 Graduate

I had a dim headlight, changed the sealed beams and still have a dim headlight. Thoughts as to why?

Check the ground wire it the headlights. The most common problem with the car is faulty grounds.

Check the connection for corrosion or loose contacts.
Is the battery fully charged? Is the Alternator putting out enough voltage to keep things running with the proper voltage?

only one dim light?
that sure points to bad ground, as Disneyguy says! Each light has its own ground. It is a silly little ground wire between one of the screws that secures the headlight 'bowl' on to the car's body.

+1 for dodgy ground. Its this screw. I changed mine to run a wire through the screw hole and connected to the ground inside the fender:
