1988 Graduate Speedometer and Tachometer problems

Hey again, I know this has been posted here and there but I need someone to help put it in easy text for me. All of the gauges in my cluster work fine except the tachometer and Speedometer. What should I look at in order to hopefully fix this?

Try the fuse for the back up lights. I don't recall right off the bat which # but if it is out the Speedo/Tach can go DOA.

Using the electrical schematic and a voltmeter, check for 12 volts at the appropriate terminals.

I had the same problem with my 87. Fuse #7 work the speedometer, tach, cigarette lighter, backup lights. In my case the lighter was shorted out, blowing the fuse. Fixing the lighter and replacing the fuse solved the problem
