Replaced Plugs...now runs really rich???

Ok, I need a little help here. I replaced the plugs in my 82 spider with new Bosch Platinum 4's. I started the car, with no problem...but it wasn't running right.

It seems to be running rich as I could smell gas in the exhaust...or maybe I had a bad plug.

So I pulled the plugs...and they're all sparking fine...and all of them looked like they had fired in the cylinders. I put them back and checked the wires to make sure I had them in the right order. Yup...no problem.

I started the car with the same results. So, I replaced the plugs with the old ones...thinking I had the wrong plugs. Started the car...same results.

Now, the only thing I can think is that somehow the distributor is now not firing at the right times? or that the mass air flow sensor is not working properly.

You probably created an air/vacuum leak . Check the big hose you disconnected to pull the #2 plug, it has to be all the way on and tight or car won't run. Also be sure you have an angled plug boot on that #2 cylinder , a straight boot will push that hose off and stall you.

DO NOT turn distributor to "adjust timing" -YOU CANNOT and will drive system crazy. Just have distributer on its index mark and computer sets timing.
