Transmission noise

Hey All,

Funny thing. I'm just getting my '86 Spider on the road, 155k miles. The trans shifts beautifully and was silent until... I topped off the fluid this evening! I jacked up the car level, removed the fill hole bolt, and added gear oil (via hand pump) till it oozed out the fill hole, then replaced the bolt. I immediately noticed a slight bearing noise when the clutch pedal was released. When I depress the clutch in, the noise goes away. It's not super loud, but I can hear it in the relatively quiet cockpit. What would cause this? Perhaps it's a bit overfilled and it's frothing. I could drain a bit out and see how it affects it.
Thoughts?
