67 Duetto Owners Manual
This may be territory already well covered, but here goes anyway! I had a heck of a time acquiring an original owners manual (for a reasonable price) for my '67 Duetto. It's unbelievable what some people are getting for them! I've seen them on eBay going for over a hundred bucks, and not meeting the reserve! Anyway, I finally found a pretty nice copy of one for under 50 bucks, which I willingly paid- a lot of good info not available through other sources until recently, when a guy started selling a nice comprehensive CD on eBay for about 49 bucks, including a lot of other neat goodies such as sales brochures, parts lists, maintenance manuals, promotional stuff, etc- a good value for fifty bucks.
Unless you have to have an original print copy of the owners manual for a show car, the CD should have everything a Duetto owner should need, and other CDs are available for other series Alfas as well. I didn't see the Duetto CD on eBay today, but the same seller (cardisc) has other CDs online currently- I'm sure you could contact him and set up purchase of whatever CD you need. Check out this link for an example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
If anyone is interested in just the owners manual for the '67 Duetto, I'd consider scanning it and burning a CD from my original manual, or even printing a paper copy once I've scanned it. Like I said, there's a lot of useful information on operating and breaking in the car you won't find in the usual shop manuals- send me a PM if you're interested, and I'll do this for a nominal fee to cover my actual costs to help out other Duetto owners who were in the same boat I was in! Dan, don't scan your manual!!! You'll break the binding on it and it will fall apart on you. I've scanned one. It already had a broken binding. The scans work well for information purposes. Yes, i'ts true, the manuals can get outrageously expensive. Prices are all over the place on Ebay. I've sold several. One week, I couldn't get $75.00, the next, it sells for $100.00. I sold one for over $200, last year. I couldn't believe it!
Anyway, please don't scan yours and run the risk of breaking the binding. I'll be more than happy to share my scans. I've also scanned the 1300 Junior, 1750 and 1750 US. If anybody wants them, you'll need to provide an ftp site for me to upload them.
The last pic is the brake manual. Oh, these are the actual sizes.

Thanks for the tip! I won't risk damaging my manual now- it would be a shame to ruin a good copy! I was just trying to be helpful, but if you've already covered this ground, it's good to know. I also bought one of the Duetto CD's on eBay, and it was worth the money in my humble opinion.
It is amazing what things can go for on ebay- from what I've seen, $200 for a Duetto Owners Manual doesn't surprise me- I hope the buyer was satisfied! As an aside, I recently put up an old book of Harrison Fisher illustrations for $20.00 with no reserve on eBay, and the bidding went up to over $350.00! Then the winning buyer wasn't happy, because it wasn't "pristine", although the pictures and description I posted clearly showed and described it as about a hundred years old and well worn, with some normal discoloration- long story short, I returned his money, although I would have been embarrassed to complain if I were in the same situation. Thanks again for the good info- this is a great site! Dan

Why buy it off Ebay? Go directly to the source, and be assured that you'll get what you pay for.

Cardisk CD
Just bought a Cardisk CD. Not impressed. The video and owners manual was nice. But the shop manual was very poor quality photo copy. Hard to read, some pages would not show and others would not print. R2

I believe the national Alfa Owner's Club also has copies of most, if not all, of the factory owner's and possibly the service manuals for Alfas sold here in the U.S., and will provide copies for the cost of duplication if you are a member.

Speaking of the Cardisc CDs, has anyone figured out how to print more than one page at a time? I was hoping to just print them out double-sided, bring the whole thing to Kinkos and have them bind it for me in a 3-ring binder. It seems you can only print one page at at time, which is NOT my idea of a fun way to spend a Saturday.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Aaron

Kudos CarDisc Guy
The "CarDisc" guy's name is Leo. I purchased the original all-Giulia disc from him (online) prior to finding the Duetto-only version for US$20.00 less on Ebay! I was a little miffed but didn't think too much of it, although I said so in a reply email.
Leo explained that he had just started making the Duetto-only discs and was wrestling with pricing issues. I won't go into details here suffice to say that my issues were addressed quickly and exceeded expectations so I am a very happy customer.
I think the discs are a great resource and thank people for taking the time and effort to do things like this. Sure they may make some cash in return, but I'd guess it's hardly enough to turn them into a millionaire at the 'expense' of us car owners.
Being able to quote a part number when tracking down parts is invaluable and I think quickly covers the outlay. My cardisc cost the same as 3 tanks of fuel or half a Farina badge !!
Forza Leo.
PS: Leo is an Alfisti.

There may be some resolution issues with parts of the scanned material, but I still feel it's a great resource, and wouldn't use it to replace a good shop manual anyway- there's plenty of those available through various suppiers, eBay, other members, etc. What I like most about the CD is the owners manual, promotional material, brochures, etc- there's a lot of diverse info on these CDs that easily make them worth the price of admission- and I certainly wouldn't expect Leo to lose money providing this resource to fellow Alfisti! Again, I really am glad I found this bulletin board and the Alfa Owners Club- great forums and superb repository of knowledge to help all of us in our spectrum of Alfa interests. I'm amazed at the depth of technical knowledge and help that is there for the asking on this site- truly awesome! Keep it up out there! Dan
