Just got finished staining all the decks on the house. Thirsty work, so this'll be short.
If you have a 74, it already has a relay on the starter circuit. If you want to relieve the relay of CSS current, wire the CSS to the starter terminal of the starter solenoid. That way the battery powering the CSS directly when the starter solenoid is energized. If you have a "click, no crank" problem, it's probably a starter solenoid going south on you. It is possible to open the solenoid and clean the large copper bar and contacts, but you must be careful, because the shaft into the magnet is not very robust.
BTW, I'm personally do not favor additional switches in the CSS circuit. If you look in your owner's manual you'll see the wiring diagram and if you look behind the washer reservoir, you'll see the relay.
