Thumbs up Newly Acquired Spidey!

Hey, All:
Bought a Spider today-it's Spring, so I had to have one. It's a '90 Grad, black with a black canvas top and tan interior. The car has a butt-load of receipts and comes with Pirelli P-6000s, on steelies, a brand new service manual and a removable-face stereo with remote control and 10 disc changer/amp in the trunk. It also has a nice-feeling aftermarket leather steering wheel.
It's issues include a somewhat graunchy transmission, a fuse box that falls onto the clutch pedal and a few minor electrical gremlins. Misc aesthetic woes as well, but overall a pretty decent little car. She needs some serious cleanup- oil leaking from the cam cover, etc...
It's nice to have a 'Vert again to drive if the weather's nice. I've had two previous Spiders, both '78s, so the Motronic is a little defferent for me.
Cheers,
Pat

Sweet, congrats. The '90 Spider is a bit of an odd duck, as it's got the S3 styling but the S4 power steering and Motronic injection. So you get a cool retro look plus all the cool goodies under the hood.

Nicest thing about the Motronic is that unlike a Spica or carbs, 99% of the time you never have to think about it. Gotta love German electronics...

Keep us posted with your progress with her.

Thanks, Gubi. This is definitely no Girly-Car, in all it's black on black-ness it looks a bit sharklike a predatory. I'll try to get started on the clutch/trans issues this weekend, then it's mainly detail work and elbow grease. Can't wait to get the engine bay clean-it's yucky.

John M-
I think of it as an adoption kind of thing-I just can't resist a stray. This makes 9 cars in 2 years...3 Berlinas, 3 Supers, 3 Spiders. Still have almost 50% in my possession, though!

Congratulations on your new purchase, I’m still searching to find my first Alfa that I can rebuild to showroom standards. And still learning how to use this BB. This is my first reply, hope it works. Have fun cleaning and post some pictures.

No, he just gets to add an extra "S":

The "South Seattle Super Secret Sedan/Spider Society"!

Or just S^6 for short.

Holey Canolli! Someone stole the power steering from all the '90 Spiders in town. Looks like a job for Bat... no, no wait Spider-Man 2.

Rich-
Welcome to the AlfaBB, and thanks! (Everyone else, too.) The 6S is alive and well. Drove the Super to work yesterday. This car just fell into my lap, so I had to jump on it.It will be on the market pretty soon, I think. Last night Borrani was over and fixed the floppy fuse box (popped out of it's clips) and several other minor annoyances. I threw away the sun visors because they flop down every 10 seconds while you're driving-Drives me NUTS! I will take a pic or two today after I get her cleaned up a bit. The mission today is to get it licensed and emissions tested...don't really expect to pass, but it's worth a stab. In fact, Borrani and I are talking about doing a Spider caravan to emissions testing-his '86 Grad needs the sniff as well, so that would be kind of interesting. Photo op, as well.
Ciao,
-P-

Newly Acquired Spidey

You sedan types NEED to have a convertible type for those GREAT Seattle (West, east, south and north) summers. Borrani got one, now you. Way to go!! Can't believe the condition and the way you got it. What's next??
Selling one of the sedans to pay for the maintenance costs?

Beautiful Spring morning, so I took a few pics of Basic Black. I clayed and waxed the paint yesterday, as well as pressure-washing the engine bay. Still can't figure out what the fan problem is...the electric fans don't want to come on, so she wants to overheat in traffic. Anyone know what the switch setpoint is?
Anyway, enjoy!
