Wheel refinishing

Bought some supplies today to start refinishing my turbina wheels. I picked up a cheap-o sand blaster gun and 25 pounds of 24 grit ground walnut shells. Has anyone here ever used walnut shells as blasting media? If so, how were the results?

I read in another thread about someone using Duplicolor wheel paint (spray can) so that's most likely what I'll use for the repaint. The car is silver so I'll most likely stick with silver but if anyone has any other potential color recommendations lemme know. A nice gun-metal/metallic dark grey might look interesting... Maybe I'll just cough up the money for a small paint sprayer and go get some paint mixed, if I go that route, what kind of primer should I use?

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas or tips, I'm all ears.

You need to make 4 Lazy Susans to set the wheels on while you slowly spin them as you spray paint them.
Rough cut the discs out of plywood. Use a plastic cover from a 3 pound coffee can as the bearing surface between the plywood and the upside down gallon can. The upper small pilot disc can be changed to suit whatever wheel you are using.
I have painted dozens of various wheels with these over the last 20 years.
I use epoxy or urethane primer.

Walnut shells are the best blasting media for paint prep, works wonders.
