Spin on oil filter for 1750 engine
My 1971 1750 Spider has been converted to use a Fram PH 3675 oil filter. I have no idea what the "conversion" entails, but this type of filter seems kind of cheaply constructed, and tends to leak a little, no matter how much I tighten it.
I am trying to get an equivalent filter of a different brand at the usual local Auto Parts stores; however, once they start asking the year and model of the car, they come up with the standard OEM cartridge that fits in the removable bowl, but is not even available in their catalog.
Any idea on what other model and brand of oil filter to install, like Purolator, AC, Motorcraft, etc?

Let Google be your friend. Just type in "oil filter cross reference table" or Fram PH3675 oil filter cross reference table. There are plenty of options.

What's this conversion. No cannister any more? Please post a picture, 'cause sounds vary interesting.

That's right, no more canister. Since this is my first Alfa, I don't have any reference to what the original set-up was.
However, by looking at engine pictures on this site from time to time, looks like the original bracket holding the canister to the left side of the engine block (behind the alternator) is still there. It has a very long (@ 2'') center threaded fitting where you spin on a modern disposable filter. Works great and it is easily accessible from above, but I just don't like the flimsiness of the Fram filter, which leaks a few drops of oil, occasionally.

Les Hurlock has been selling these canister --> spin-on adapters for years. I have one on my 1600 Giulia, and it works great. Check out this website: new brochure -filter. So, I guess it's possible that the PO of SP949's car bought one of these from Les.
The issue of the quality of Fram filters is another topic - and one that's been discussed a lot on the BB. The gossip is that Baldwin and other manufacturers are generally superior to Fram.
However, SP949's car may NOT have a Hurlock adapter - I looked at the data sheet that Les includes with his kits, which includes a long list of manufacturers' part numbers that fit it - the Fram PH 3675 is not among them. Strange. A photo of SP949's engine would be helpful.

If your auto parts store has a filter catalogue hanging in the filter area, there are usually cross reference lists at the back.

Thanks AlfaJay! After looking at my oil filter housing, and the pictures and information on Les Hurlock site, it appears to have been converted by him.
I e-mailed him to get the oil filter information.

Thanks, Gary! After searching different sites, I found the common equivalents to my oil filter, although I am still convinced it is the wrong type.
No real problems from this filter aside a minor seepage that I am sure would go away if a better filter would be fitted.
