Windshield antenna

My 85 Spider has a windshield antenna grid. There is a small male snaplike connector attached to the inside of the windshield in the center just above the dash. I have located the antenna wire under the dash, but, alas, there is no female connector. I realize that I could just go get an antenna, but I would like to not have to drill a hole in one of the fenders although I am aware that the placement of the antenna was never something that was done in a consistant location. Any suggestions?

My antenna has the same setup, except I had the female end on the cable. My issue was that the male snap on the windshield had come off. I reglued it with "Tab Adhesive", also used to fix rear window defrosters.

The female end on the antenna cable is a right angle connector that snaps on to the male tab on the windshield. It makes a nice neat installation. You might try a good automotive electrical shop to see if the can help you out. We're not talking rocket science here.

I'm on the road till early next week, I'll take a picture when I get back if you would like.

Shakespeare (the marine antenna people) make an antenna designed to stick to boat windshields for Am/FM reception. Once I figure out why my radio quit in the first place, I'l probably try it since my '83 got a new windshield and the shop installed one without the antenna.

Here's a picture of the connector where the antenna attaches to the windshield. I HAVE to get a Macro attachment for this camera! Hope this helps.
