Now it is time to trace the door panel, face down on the backside of the carbon fiber sheet. I used a rag to keep the vice grips from altering the epoxy finish on the front side-better safe than sorry Also made sure there was ample overhang left over, since I won't have a vinyl trimming on the outside edges.

I can't make any promises as we all know, mechanics life is all about "blood, sweat and gears"...also, mechanics "Screw, nut, then bolt"...

After much searching, finally found my jig saw-in the kitchen drawer-no doubt. Here are some of the almost done photos, now if I could only find my dremel to remove the edges (she's over a 1/4" larger for fine detailing)....

Still not done (took a 3 hour nap), but this is the almost finished panel set up. I have an idea for the door panel pocket that involves springs and rivets, so that idea will be published right before the complete install. Also my reflector needs glued back onto the chrome base (PO did actually save the broken reflector!).

I would loose the map pocket, for me its usability is near zero... so i would not miss it...

I was told the devil is in the details, so I drew out a pentagram on the basement floor, lit 6 black beeswax candles and placed them inbetween the points of the star and one in the dead center with me and went to the hardware store and got stainless fasteners to replace the old fasteners
She is almost ready for install, just need to use the stainless rivets I got to secure the door panel pouch to the panel itself and hopefully pick up miniture rivets from work tonight to secure the springs. I want the pouch to be spring loaded inside the panel, so you have to pull it open and so that it stays recessed when not in use. Was also wonder if I got a 12V supply inside my door connected to those switches, I could also place a red led light inside of the reflector to turn on when the door opens...just an idea.

That would've definetely made things easier! I'm not going for originality, obvisiouly, but would like to maintain some of the OEM looks/function.

One more stop to the hardware store for a 1/8" washer (for the rivet) to get the pocket spring settled in and she's done. Glad to see the polls in the favor of CF...with or without the map pocket.

DD - is it the pictures or are the panels a bit scuffed up?

One scuff mark, going up and down at the door lever hole, that last photo was just glare and or smudges. That scuff mark is what happens when you have the carbon fiber sheets sitting along the wall at the front door in a house with 3 children for 9 months
