Drop in lighter woes

quick update...my fear is realized...by shortening the element, the rest of the element could not take the heat and has since stopped working..but 3 months of fun......dang it

Four Possible Solutions Hot Lead In Back Of Lighter Is Disconnected , Blown Fuse in Fuse Block,Bad Ground To Lighter,Lighter is no good get yourself a 12-volt test lamp and start testing the lines

I am glad to inform you that after 3.5 years, my lighter is now fixed. I had bought another lighter probably about a year ago, but that one did not work either. Finally I decided last weekend to look into in again. By combining good parts from both lighters, I now have one working one!!! And the ashtray light works as well...although not very well, as expected
