top strap for convertible

I have one strap that has been cut in half. How do these straps work? I understand they are supposed to keep the top secure and snug when the top is down.

The strap end (the one that is not secured) has a hook on it. When the top is down, one hooks it to the top frame and this holds the top down. I would encourage you to do a search - there are threads that even have pictures of this...
