Chances are the seats need some repair of the innerds. With internet seat covers, they're probably not going to fit as well as a local guy can custom make and fit them.

BTW, his quote for leather was about $700, more than double of the vinyl and he recommended the vinyl over the leather.
do you have more pictures of your alfa? it looks great, interior and exterior.

Has anyone installed seat heaters in their seats? I would think it would extend the driving season. I figure if I'm going to recover the seats this would be a good time to install heaters.

I haven't yet, but I will be installing both a heating element, and a lumbar support, when my spare set of seats are recovered. My upholsterer says that he has done both before on other cars, and doesn't see a problem with doing this with Spider seats. (He has re-covered Spider seats before.) There are lots of choices on the net for heaters, and some very attractive prices. I would encourage you to do a google search and see if you can visit a supplier close to you.

Best regards,

I asked a local auto upholstery guy about repairing my seats ('86 Grad driver's seat ripped). and when he said about $1,100 to replace just the vinyl seat panel, I said "thanks, I'll let you know" & kept walking. It's the Hamptons, you know. Home of the 2 million dollar 1000 sq foot house.

Wish Roadtrip's guy was a little closer.....
