I had this issue with two 91 spiders and in both cases it was the check valve next to the vapour canister in the rear truck compartment. The funny thing is I don't think anything is broken, it seems to be functioning as it should. After reaching a certain amount of pressure the check valve opens and the high pitch humm can be heard.
I was able to replicate it by taking off the check valve and blowing into it. When you blow in one side it should blow freely. When you blow in the other side you should get some resistance, but at a certain pressure point the valve opens, air flows through and voila... you get the high pitch hmm.
