Window regulator

I took the passenger side window regulator apart on my newly acquired 88 spider aand was able to get the motor working again. Apparently the cable had come off the spool in the past and the motor had siezed from lack of use. Can't seem to get it to get it it set back up right. I've routed the cable according to the diagram in the manual, but it doesn't work. I don't think the cable is spooling correctly. I can't use the driver side as a guide because the window is jury rigged in the up position. Anhealp greatly appreciated.

You need a new window regulator.

Both heat, and age ruin the regulator. The spool that the cable goes into (i assume is plastic like every other regulator) cracks, which cause the cable to not feed-in it right, and the cable pops back out.

No the spool is metal. I think that I'm not setting the cable up correctly. Does one end wind in one direction and the other in the opposite?
