Original Market Value 1973-4 Spider Veloce

Hi all Alfa fans, I have a strange but important query. Does anybody out there know the original market price (sterling) in 1973/74 of a Spider Veloce. I need this price for BIK purposes for the revenue.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

According to NADA, here are the original MSRPs for those years. These figures are in US Dollars.

1974 Spider: $6,550

This is kind of interesting, if you plug in the MSRPs for various years and adjust for inflation using an inflation calculator, you generally get a current day dollar value just under $30,000. So really, things haven't changed too much.

Even more interesting is if you look up the MSRP of the Chevrolet Corvette convertible for those years you'll find they were less costly than the Alfa Romeo Spider at:
'73 Convertible = $5,398
'74 Convertible = $5,765

Optional BIG block engines were around $300...and look what these cars are bringing today

I say this as one who bought an Alfa GTV after looking at the less costly Corvettes in 1974. An Alfa is not really an monetary investment-- ya buy it 'cause ya love it, 'cause ya got passion.

Robbie, I don't know that it will be much help to you. Even if you knew the exchange rate back then, you don't know how pricing structures were set up in US vs UK/IRL back then. Also, what about tax/VAT? The US is practically tax free compared to UK/IRL.
