Pressure brake bleeder

Has anyone tried a pressure brake bleeder like IAP sells?

Looks good on paper but I would like to here your experiences with it.

Also, does it make bench bleeding the MC obsolete?

Thanks, Pat

Hi Pat:

The pressure bleeeder IAP sells works great. It's easy to use and is very effective. I'm not a big IAP fan, but that's something you can buy from them with complete confidence.

You can also buy it directly off the manufacturer's site, and get a good deal on a package that includes a quart or two of brake fuid. Another advantage to buying from the manufacturer is that they sell adapters for other types of master cylinders, should you want to use it on multiple vehicles. Have a look:

Hi Pat:

I forgot to answer your question about bench bleeding. I've got a set of lines made, but they don't seem to be necessary, at least in my experience. If you're not in a hurry, you can let gravity bleed the hydraulics, and it works as well as anything. The pressure bleeder is just a convenience. Older Alfa's with floor mounted pedals and MC's aren't quite so agreeable.

I did have to bench bleed a clutch MC once, for whatever reason, but maybe because it was an off-brand (Metelli) MC that was of suspicious quality.

I make a habit of wrapping all my bleeder screws with a few turns of Teflon tape. It prevents air and fluid leaks during bleeding, and if you happen not to touch your bleeders again for 10 years, it might keep them from rusting in the calipers.

Regards,

Dean

Use mine out at the track, when I got to much brake fade I pull in and bleed them in 10 min. The bleeder comes with a adapter for other cars but it leakes air and is really just good for alfas. Keith

Thanks for the replies!

I will definitely get this bleeder, as much time as I spend on brakes it will pay for itself quick.

Dean, thanks for the link. I'm checking if they have adaptors for my TR6.

Pat

Hi all. Happy new year.

Somebody knows how much (aprox) is the capacity the for the tandem brake circuit, in liters?

I have a Spider Veloce and I´m thinking about renewing the brake fluid, flexibles hoses and fit a caliper repair kit.

Regards
