Well, well, well,... I see Mr. "mouth of the south" is at it again... That's OK, 'cause us faster convention guys don't mind slower guys trying to rub elbows with us...

I won't make you wait that long, John, especially 'cause you are not scared, right? So here's the challenge: You know (and have known for a while) that I will be back in Ohio for the AROC OVAROC and KARS Fall Winery Tour, which takes place on Saturday the 18th of October... There is an SCCA autocross event in Cincy, on Sunday October 19. Yes, it's in the same web site we use for the KY events. Here's the link: Cincy Region Points Event #8

Yes, it's 36 miles south of our home in Middletown, and it would mean that you would have to drive up. Of course, I know that's not a problem, unless you're too scared to show up... (Heck, I've driven down to KY several times, and I don't even have a trailer!) So, John, let's make this one a definite, or are you counting on me having to be back in NJ by the 26th, so you can avoid facing my black beauty? (And yes, this time I'm not accepting any wheels/tire offers from anyone in KY. Rumor has it that offering the non-fiiting wheels was your idea, so that I would be forced to run on street tires! )

Best regards,

Eric you could beat them all except for the great Enrique and his black spider but are you sure you want to do a autocross in Kentucky?

No way C. The white is snow as our white spiders travel so fast through the atmosphere that there is a corresponding drop in pressure and temperature around our cars. Hence what you are seeing is ice formation....aka snow. Actually my car is blue and Bud's is red. I am sure you have seen the phenomenon before. Just look at the DeLorean post time travel.

Now Enrique is not a slug...rather his scientific name is Gallus domesticus. Look that up for fun!

Murray's scientific name on the other hand is Meleagris gallopavo. And a big one at that!

Best Regards,
John M

No can do Pain Train Rider. You have been defeated. Spanked. You forfeited first, got ready to leave second, got denied to drive the Budsy mobile third, and got spanked with a big weight advantage in the Blizzard fourth. Unfortunately, the wife is working that Sunday of the 19th. I'll be with Jared and lil Lauren.

I think you should just stick around an extra week.

Best Regards,
John M

Best regards,
You know you are trying to hang your hat on less than 9 hundredths of a second. You try this after you took 7 runs...two more than you supposed to have! Of course, I only got two runs. The first was to find my way around the course....as I didn't walk it like you did. The second was my only run at speed. Then came the ran. I waited to run again, but they closed the course. I was more than ready finish you and Budsy both off! You probably went and paid someone to close the course early! You see....that is a mighty suspect and tiny nail you are trying to hang a hat on. You should accept reality that you got your dream chance to beat me last week. You were in my car. You were spanked! Spanked! SPANKED!!!! WHOOOOO WHOOOOOOO!!!! PAIN TRAIN WOMAN!!!!

Best Regards,
John M

I know those fine convention memories really get you going, John! (Who would've thought that you'd be slower than me?! )

I know you are also scared to run anywhere, but in your comfy KY parking lots... I know, I know, the last time you ran outside of KY - at the convention - you lost, 'cause the world conspired against you!

About going down to Lexington - I'll see if I can re-arrange my schedule (depends on mom's health) and hang out another week to make the Oct. 26 autocross... (Now I know you're shaking like a leaf on tree and won't be able to sleep for weeks! )

On a different note and perhaps it doesn't belong here but,.... what's going on with the Lexington autocross fees? I just re-checked the web site to see what it would cost to run on Oct. 26. The web site clearly states that its $30 for non-SCCA members that pre-register on-line, and $35 for non-SCCA members who "walk-up". This last time I ran with you guys, I had pre-registered on-line (as always), and expected to pay the published fee, but had to pay $45 to run. (They were also very insistent that I pay even more, and join SCCA, even though I explained that I was only visiting.) I truly think it is outrageous that they charge a different rate than what is published on the official site... I know this is the organization that you guys belong to, so I didn't want to cause any trouble for any of you, but I really didn't and still don't appreciate the switch. I'm not saying I won't run there again, but if I were running an event, I would charge what I published, and so I also expect others to do the same...

Best regards,

Maybe George can answer your question. I know Bud and I personally think the fees are getting to the point of outrageous. $25 to run whether you are a member or not. Then an additional $15 for a day membership if you are not a SCCA member. The impact is clear on the fee jump. Some of it as I understand is national initiated. The some is local. Where ever the source, it is serving to drive down attendance. We used to have 100 cars and have to rush to register in order to run or get left out as the venue was full. Now it seems that the SCCA is becoming more focused on being a cash cow rather than a grassroots organization. I suppose I better sell some more decals!!!!!

With all this said, I reup'd my membership.

Best Regards,
John M

For general BB information, SCCA Inc. has mandated a "Weekend Membership" requirement this year for entry in Solo events (not without some controversy among the individual SCCA Regions). The stated rationale is to encourage people to join SCCA, and that as members, entrants are provided higher levels of insurance coverage.

Regarding the Central KY region published Solo event fees; I have requested that correct fees be posted on our website and MyAutoEvents.com. Enrique has been copied on this email.
