Guys, THIS is what the real joys of club racing is all about! Good friends going at it tooth and nail, then sharing a good beer on the cool-off run! More fun than "My Pop can whip your Pop!", but nothing better since I was 9 yrs old.
Good luck to both.
I'm envious!

Beforewarned!
John:
I want you to go out to your garage after you finish reading this; get down low in-front of your Spider and look right into it's mouth. Right there in the center is a round badge. On the left is the Christian cross of Milano; on the left is a snake injecting some of the same kind of venom you have been shooting out of your mouth at me. You should pray to that cross that same snake doesn't get you this weekend. I'll be that snake and you will be the little guy getting biten and devoured. The snake will be wearing the crown of victory.
Beforewarned!

This is one fun post...and even more fun, because the friendship really comes through... I know we will all be waiting to hear how it went...
I'm sorry I won't be able to make it to see the outcome in person. (Didn't realize the date, so we planned a very nice dinner with 4 other couples... I can't miss it - they are very good friends, and I was the one who suggested the date )
Hmmm... Bud has now broken his silence, and that tells me that he has waited until he's sure he's ready. I know he hasn't installed the Megasquirt, since that's a winter project, but the question really is what was the probelm last week, and what has he done to correct it for this weekend? And has John also been refining his newly found advantage? I think we need a tech inspection report, as a preamble to the event.
Best regards,

Ole Budsy better be hooking up a nitrous bottle....or he'll ride the Pain Train for sure!!!
I should also point out that I beat Budsy driving one handed! Heck if I use both, he'll really go down in flames. Note the pictures at the start of this thread! Really...beat him one handed! Bwa HA HA HA!
Going live in three...two....one....
This is Stan Marrow of the Speed channel standing live in the shop of "Beat Budsy" Racing. Along side Jack Arute. Our special guest is the recent champion of the CKR SCCA John M/Budsy Alfa Duel.
John, how does it feel to reach the top?
Well Stan, its an honor.
John, just how did you defeat Budsy...the world demands an answer.
Two words....Ringer tires Stan. Ole Budsy had been driving on them all year. I felt it was time I stepped up to the plate and bought some old used beat up hoosiers and slap them on some 15" boat anchors for wheels.
John, you mean to tell the world that you beat Budsy on old wore out hoosiers from 2004 that were mounted on insanely heavy 15" wheels?
That's right Stan....one handed too. Ole Budsy has ringer wheels on his car.....but that didn't even factor in. He was driving the best Alfa Spider in the States and still couldn't pull it off. I think he pulled a plug wire off his car so he could slide into SCCA Champion Schweikle's car.
John, we at the Speed Channel want you to know that we are pulling for you. We normally don't take sides, but we believe Budsy has it coming. All that Liberache mumbo jumbo. Not to mention the pine tar we photographed on his tires. Really an unsportsman move on Budsy's part. We really like the pearl paint and the fine polished valve covers! Now, how are you going to defend your title at the next event?
Easy Stan, I am just going to turn the key and drive. Its all on Budsy to take me down.
John, got anything special in store for Budsy?
Sure do Stan, 40 degrees of full advance. And I installed a chassis stiffener.
Well there you have it folks. Expect John M to give Budsy a first class ticket on the Pain Train. We'll be there live covering the day's event. Join us Sunday evening for a complete breakdown of the day's events. This is Stan Marrow and for Jack Arute saying goodnight, goodluck, and beat Budsy!!!
Best Regards,
John M

This is hilarious, and good fun! So Murray, you're on - my $10 is on Bud!!! BUT all winnings must be paid and collected in person, at the Detroit Convention ... Now, how about you John - are you willing?

Now, I've seen Bud drive (and some of the KY folks, as well), but I've never had the pleasure of meeting John (although I remember him well and we did trade e-mails when the Spider Web was around...), but I know that it is a strong and competitve group, so the outcome is going to be exciting. However, I'm a little worried about the journalistic coverage: John - Do you realize that the latest Journal edition in your post is from Sunday (Domingo = Sunday; see top left hand corner)? That wouldn't be a doctored copy now - would it? That really is from last Sunday, right?
Best regards,

For $100, Budsy would sell his mother! Not to mention he may have put a voodoo hex on me! But I am up for $10.
Live from Cincy,
