Hi Enrique,
Thanks for the update and your cancellation call. I'm really glad there was no apparent long-term damage. If your schedule permits, there is another event at the same site on May 6. On line registration begins tonight. C'mon down, the Bud & John show continues...John did a great job with his stock S3 Spider but Bud should admit to be slightly preoccupied with his restoration of a XXXX (I hope he doesn't mind me mentioning this, but it's really neat to see this car with the entire aluminum body removed). Uh oh... I just did a thread highjack... so sorry.

Hi Mark,
Great pictures - thanks for the link! I'll definitely be there for the next one... I'll also post a picture that I took of my Spider, once we unloaded it on Sunday. I was so psyched for the autocross that I just had to put the racing numbers on and snap a shot...
Best regards,

Nice pictures Mark, so tell us the truth who knock down the most cones John of Bud? I see them scattered all over the place in the pic's with both of them but not a one with George or Dee.

Well, here is a picture of "Raquel", all dressed up but unable to run...
Now the sad update: the head gasket is blown. Followed by the good news: I'm registered for May 6 - and "Raquel" will be ready, or at worst, "Annie" will be!
Best regards,

Oh....how I know this predicament!
Sorry to hear that Enrique. Might as well do as I and do the upper end if it hasn't been done in awhile.
I don't think either of us were tagging cones. Just the illusions of the pics. I didn't hit any for sure. And I think Budsy didn't either.
@ Craig and for all your info....
A funny story....
I went by to see my head today and Budsy. After dropping off one of Bud's real Alfa valve guide drivers to the head shop (didn't have the right one)....Budsy and I went to Good Foods CoOp. Bud brings along his laptop and logs on to the Alfabb. While he is away getting dessert, I take the opportunity to enter the following in his name:
"John and George are both better drivers than me. I just wish I was as good as John."
Now that was up on the Alfabb for a little bit....all of two minutes or so before Bud edited the comment. I shouldn't have been so obvious.
Budsy is going down next event. The 78 is going to rise again. While over at the machine shop, my head guy took the time to elaborate to Bud what all he was going to do to my head to make it so I can royally kick Budsy buns. 5 angle seats, epoxy the port floor with a little hump at the end. Reshape the ports. And lets not forget the titanium valves! Budsy was all tore up and talking about pulling out his special bottom end with the sperry stage V head.
Best Regards,
John M

Thanks for the words of concern and wisdom, John. The top end should be OK, but we still need to figure out what came first. Did the car overheat a bit and that caused the head gasket to go (like I think), or did the head gasket start to go and that is what caused the car to overheat and finish off the gasket? (I will admit that I was really enjoying the 118 mi drive, and I was truly moving, but I have done that many, many times before...) We'll see... As always, one never knows what exactly to expect until it's taken apart. If however, I need to do anything with the bottom end, I have two sets of 10:1 aluminum forged pistons ready to go... ... but I don't really need to spend more money!

Well.....I must admit I am flattered with Bud's post and admission of defeat. Now Bud if you want some of that Pearl white paint....It can be arranged!
