That's the problem..........Laying out Chicanes on the long straights for "saftey reasons" That's what they are doing in Kentucky for the Convention's TT's can you believe it "saftey reasons"it's more like "chicken reasons" to me. And it's the biggest chicken of them all (JohnM) that's laying out the cones.
It's the only way those white spider basterds can compete with the faster more powerful Black Spider's.................they know that with there lack of hp their only chance is slow the track up..........Chicanes on the straights.....give me a break

I have both quick steering arms and a 350 mm wheel, wide (205/60-14) tires, but no power steering. No problem driving, and just a little heavy for parallel parking. Even with your heavier car, you should be just fine.
The short steering really is nice on the track. I don't like hand-over-hand steering either - it makes the exit a bit trickier; I do not like sliding the wheel thru the hands on exit. Remember to pre-position your hands ahead of the turn too.

Getting kinda excited about the new steering wheel, drop down to the alfa shop and talk to Kurt about it and he had several cars with a Momo 13" wheel and offered me to to get in and see how it felt...............Felt great.
I think I will be able to feel what the Spider is doing better, the stock wheel is just to big and really limits the range I can turn the wheel with out shuffling my hands.
I feel the distance the stock wheel is from me is good but having a wheel 2" smaller diam wheel would really increase my range of motion.
The quick dis-connect will bring the wheel 3" closer then without it so until we get the old wheel off and see what distance we have to work with it will determine what lenght of wheel hub, if there is enough room for a quick disconnect and might even effect what type of wheel to get.
In looking at different wheels I see they offer round or oval shape wheel gripping? Which is better, is one favored over the other?........would think oval would be a more comfortable

Whatever one you get make sure it has a doorknob on the rim of the wheel

Been poking around in the shop lately doing a little prep work on the Spider to get it ready for Kentucky.
As you know I'm playing with the idea of a smaller wheel and started pulling the stock interior to install the roll bar and race gear.
Anyone what a fish tank, the wife booted it out of the house a couple of weeks ago?

Murray: Have you considered the Alfaholics (does Spruel make them too?) fast steering arms? Shorter arms gives more turn motion for steering input, so less wheel input. Listed at 195 pounds.

Here's Paul Spruel's, at slightly lower price (1/2 for the Alfaholics aluminum that match Paul's).
Steering Arm Aluminum Close Ratio
[5167334] $98.00
Fits all 105/115 cars. Allows quicker turn it response. These aluminum steering arms are 1/2" shorter than standard arms, thus the quicker steering input. These will not fit the tapered shaft of stock tie rod ends. These arms can only be used with 1/2" rod ends attached with 1/2" bolts. Redrill this hole if you have 5/8 rod ends. Since these arms are straight instead of bent like the standard steering arms, it will require the steering "bump steer" to be corrected by machining the appropriate spacers. Weight reduction is 1 pound. Quantity 2 required.
