Fuse box cover on eBay
Hello all,
Looking for a little bidding help here. eBay listing follows:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2441663503
Is this the correct fuse box cover for a US model '69 Spider?
Any and all comments welcome. Thanks in advance.

No, that looks like the kind for the fuse boxes that are in the engine compartment. I might have a spare at the house if you need one. I'll look tonite.

I'd have to say no, it's not the right one.
1) the sticker is not on the inside - and it's in two languages
2) the labels on the sticker don't match the circuits - ex. fuse #4 is for the p/lights on your '69; not #6
3) has a knurled metal knob instead of a large plastic screw
4) SEVENTY SIX DOLLARS? For a cover? I've seen on ebay complete fuseboxes WITH covers sell for less than half of that!

Good Grief! I didn't even look at the going price. I should get some of those and sell them on Ebay. I could retire. The funny thing is, if another one showed up on Ebay next week, you could probably get it for $5.00.

There are some items on eBay right now with some absolutely stupid prices that I can't figure out how they came up with. For instance, the Alfa-logo fender cover that IAP has in their catalog for about fifteen bucks is up on auction for an opening bid of thirty, with a buy-it-now of sixty (and they even use the same photo as IAP). Someone else is bragging about the low $240 price of their "OEM-brand" Alfa clutch kit (while someone else was selling the Valeo clutch kits for $149). I have a copy of an IAP catalog near my computer for reference; it's amazing how many higher-than-retail items have been showing up. Someone in Australia wants $49 for a pair of chrome hold-down clips for the Spider Carello headlight covers, and $196 for the covers themselves! (And this is US dollars, not Australian.) For less money, you can get the whole kit from the regular US vendors and also get the trim rings and little plastic grommet things, too. (And if you order from Hurtienne, you can save about $100 on the price of the same items.)
I've gotten some really good prices on things, too, but you really have to know what something costs before you jump on it.

I agree. I've seen auctions for things (not Alfa) that have very high bids. Then, I look and there are two or three other auctions for that same ithing going for less than half of the current bid. It's really strange. I still am very curious who spent $203 on the tool kit. I don't want it, I'm just curious.

Reminds me of what PT Barnum used to say . . . . .
Something about 1 born every minute . . . . . . or was it something about a fool and his money?
I think the correct fuse box cover has a plastic hold down screw. There's lots of them out there. Go on Ebay and look at the companies and individuals that have lots of parts for a 70s Alfa, email and ask them if they have one. Chances are they're only listing stuff worth the trouble of listing.

Well crap. It turns out that all I have is the part that holds the fuses. Sorry about that. I beleive the ones for the 69 are the same as ones for the Kammtails.

Hi guys,
That cover is from my 'Alfa Parts Barn' and is being listed by a friend of mine. We had no idea it would go so high up in the bidding! It's from a '75 Spider I believe.
Having said that, I'm sure my friend will sell it for whatever the market will bare. The odd thing is, I have bought some usually very expensive parts for next to nothing, while I have seen some parts go through the roof. I guess that is just what happens in auctions, huh?
Cheers,

I don't think that fuse cover comes from a kammtail Spider. As papajam mentioned, I believe kammtail Spider fuse covers had the label on the inside and had a black plastic knob in the center.
This fuse cover matches the one in my GTV exactly. So I suspect it would be correct for early 105 models.
I have also noticed some Alfa parts prices going nuts on eBay recently. I saw a NOS oil cap go for $36! You can buy one from IAP for $4.95! I wonder if Paradiso was the high bidder.

Kai, I believe that you are correct! I have anassortment of parts from a 1600 Bertone coupe in the mix of stuff I got.
Thanks,

I am absolutely amazed! Do you know what my little plastic fuze box cover sold for? Wait for it....$132.50!?!?!? WTF?!?!?!?!
I truly can't believe that somebody would pay that much for a used cover! It is incredible!
I feel guilty!
