Where was it cracked? The box typically cracks along the bolt holes that hold the steering shaft. I believe there was a fix that envolves using spacers where the box mounts to the car and where the shaft mounts under the dash. Papajam posted the repair, so do a little search and see if you can come up with it.

Often there is a triangle shaped alum. one piece spacer, just like the one under the Idler, Mirror images, they are not the same thickness at all three points. I have also seen the individual spacers, different on all the models and years. The frame rails are not parallel, X or Y axis. I will rty to take pictures of some at the shop tommorrow.

Thought this little tidbit would help with the steering box installation.

If you mean thickness you will need to trial mount your steering box per Papajam's instructions and measure and then make (buy) some of the right thickness.

Ok, these washers are used on a couple of different places on the car. So, maybe you can scavenge some off a parts car.

2140.16530-Is the same washer that goes between the bolt that holds the lower control arm mount and the body.

2140.16677-Is the same washer that goes on the nut that secures the lower part of the front shock to the lower A arm.

Both show as being 10.5mm washers, but I am sure they are a different thickness'.

Those are two fairly standard metric washers. Should be easy to find at most parts stores. No special hardness, or thickness. Pretty standard steel washers.

I don't think they are. If you get the wrong thickness of washers, that could throw the shaft or column out of alignment and he'd be back where he started. The one that the box mounts too is quite thick compared to the fender wahser that is used on the column. Sorry, I don't have a micrometer to measure them.

Measured six washers today; three from the steering box mount and three from the idler arm. They are all the same size;
OD=22mm
ID=10.5mm
Thickness=2.6mm
Material appears to be hardened (like grade 10.9) steel.

Sorry, don't currently have easy access to any column washers.
