Hutbed, would you mind providing your car's Type Number and your actual name? Thanks. The rest of your car's information has been posted.

Willie,

I'd like to ask you for a favor... would you mind starting a thread of your own, where you can continue to promote your own Duetto Register? Your posts are distracting, and potentially confusing to owners who are trying to get their cars added to the more-encompassing Spider Register here in this thread. If you see a Round-tail here that you'd like to add to your own register, simply PM the owner, ask for his/her permission, then post to your own thread.

We can co-exist; I'm not in competition with you; I'm merely trying to include the Spiders which were built AFTER the round-tails, and there are LOTS of those - they shouldn't be left out as if they were orphans; they're Alfas just like any other. Please don't feel threatened, as my thread can potentially bring out round-tails that aren't already on your register (again, feel free to contact the owners for their permission to add their cars to your register). I think that all who have read/posted on this thread will agree with my sentiment here.

Christopher Boles, who maintains the Veloce Register (Giulietta Veloces only) elsewhere online, has a good number of cars that overlap with those on mine, but we find that mutually beneficial, and help each other bolster our listings. Andrew Watry, who maintains the Sedan Register, decided with me a few years back to merge our registers in order to make it more convenient for all Alfisti. We cooperate, not compete; you don't see Chris Boles posting in my threads, do you?

Anyway, I'd appreciate your starting a separate thread; I think that it could be quite successful and informative for all Spider owners. Thanks in advance.

Type number should be on an aluminum plate in the engine compartment, which details the car's serial number and other info, including Type. I don't know about later Spiders, but check the door jambs for that plate if it's not in the engine compartment.

Thanks, Andrew!

I don't see any useful numbers in the engine compartment, and the plate on the driver's door jamb only has VIN and weights. ??

Hmmm, well does anybody else know what the Type number is for an '83 Spider? Somebody's gotta know!

It's an '84 model, built in '83, if that helps.

A 1984 USA Spider is a model 11541.
Specific sub-model numbers are; Spider 115.50.1, Graduate 115.50.3.

Thanks, Jim, for chiming in. Does a 1983 share that same type number? It's strange that a sub-number would go to ".50" rather than stay with ".41", but what do I know; things are what they are.

Andrew, Alfa's Type numbers would correspond to their build-dates/years, I believe, rather than what we know as "model year" - this would be especially the case as your car was built in August, nowhere near the end of the year. Is your car a "Spider" or "Graduate"?

Yes.
The type 11541 designation started with the 1977 California version Spider and all USA Spiders from then on through (at least) 1988 are also 11541s.

On paper and on the trim bits it's labeled a "Spider Veloce," but Marco from Alfa said the VIN goes to an "Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 I.E." Not sure what the I.E. means. So my type number is 115.50.1, I guess...

I.E. probably means Iniezione Electronico, or Fuel Injection.

I'll bet that Marco can tell you the Type Number, if you REALLY want to know. For now, we'll just call it 115.50.1.

I.E. = Iniezione Elettronica = Electronic Fuel Injection (in English)

If I had to vote, I'd go for the 11541 as I think it to be far more widely known and therefore more recognizable by others. The 115.50.1 is an internal sub-model type number used only by Alfa.
