Others have done U-joints themselves with a vise or even a hammer, but you don't want to bend the ears on the drive shaft. I'm not shy about trying things myself, but I did bring the U-joint to the machine shop. It didn't take long at all (they did it while I waited). I suggest calling the machinist first and seeing if absolutely slammed or if they're only really busy (the only options, it seems) and can take a few minutes to do the U-joints. You really should do both U-joints, since you're taking the driveshaft out anyway. Also, make sure you mark the driveshaft so you align it back exactly the way it came out.
