Clutch pedal question

Sorry if this is obvious, but I took the pivot arm out to see what kind of shape its in, and took a look at the clutch pedal. Is this weld holding the pivot end to the pedal shaft supposed to be there? Just checking.

Doesn't look like the clutch pedal in our '84 Spider.

It's out of an '87 Spider. Shouldn't it be the same? If mine looks different than yours, that worries me a bit... Can anyone else verify this?

I would assume it is the same. Note: I have not removed the clutch pedal. I did go out to the garage and look up under the dash with a flashlight. I slide my hand up the length of the pedal and did not feel anything that would indicate a welded joint.
