My winters project
I found this Alfa in a friends shed, it hadn't been in then road sence 2002. After I got it home cleaned out the rodent nests and a dead rat, drained out the old gas repaired some chewed wireing it started and with the help of a bottle of injector it's now running fairly good.
The wife dosn't like red cars and the red on this one didn't look very nice so the first job is to paint it.
Question,?? could someone tell me how the crome comes off?
How much oil is required to fill this thing up? When I drained it I got about 2 gallons out. And is there any trick in removing the oil filter?
This is my first experance with an Alfa so any tidbit of info would be appreciated.
Top photo is where I found it bottom was after a quick wash job

Removing the air box allows easier access to the oil filter. I dont exactly remember but the car takes a good amount of oil.
At least from the pictures the paint does not look that bad. Def. not to the point where I think it would be worth going through paining it. Specially to another color. Real Alfas are red

A 2L will take 7.2 quarts with a filter change. 7.5-ish if it's a fresh after rebuild fill including the cam galleys and filter.

Hi -
Welcome to the forum and the Wonderful World of Alfa Ownership . Your engine requires 7 quarts of 20w50 motor oil. The chrome isn't really chrome but rather stainless steel. Sorry, don't know how to get it off without mangling it. There is a wealth of knowledge and experience here so I'm sure someone will be able to answer this one.
Have fun,
Drew

Sorry but the air box is on the other side of the engine, I removed the radiator overflow tank and the battery and then was able to reach the oil filter easely but what a poor desine, I had to turn the filter can on its side to get it out and oil ran all over the place. :-(

I have some NOS lenses that fit into the bumper, if you're referring to those?

Chuck,
The original advert appeared on the BB here. I've sold a lot of these already (in fact, I've just checked and I only have two complete pairs left, but have extra front right lenses), and am open to negotiation on the price if that would help.
Alex.

Looks very nice for parked 7 years! Why was it put away? The red looks bright, can't tell how smooth, glossy or thick the paint job is from the pics, as expensive as paint is I'd live with it for a while too if I could.
What chrome are you talking about? I think your car is almost the same as mine. The windshield surround pieces should be pretty self evident - take off the top first. There was some gunk from windshield mounting sticking stuff together on mine after screws were removed. The strips along the side window openings are held on with clips, and will pull straight up if pried gently. I used a curved pic, not a screw driver. The headlight trim rings come straight off as well. Nothing bent, just work slowly around/along the piece with something with no sharp edges to crimp metal or cut through paint.
The brightwork cleans up very nicely!

In responce to on the road, The guy that bought it seven years has a lot of cars but I have no idea as to why he just parked it.As for the paint when I took the picture it was still wet the paint is in poor condition and now even worse as I have been sanding on it. the crome that I am trying to get off is around the top of the cockpit I think that it will have to come off when I replace the top too, also need to remove the peace that runs along the bottom of the windshild.

The chrome strip around the back of the cockpit has to come off during top replacement. The stuff on the front and sides isn't removed. If someone has an easy way to get the chrome off the bottom of the windshield I'm all ears. I need to get that off on my way to removing the vent panel just below it to re-secure my windshield washers.
