Chuck,

I don't have any solid amber lenses. I do have two full pairs of brand new clear/amber, though.

Alex.

You mean the windshield trim isn't held on by a single screw at each end and clips along the bottom of the glass on that series?

It is, but it was my understanding it's hard to get it off without marring the paint. Any tips?

You could slip some thin cardboard between the trim and cowl beforehand I guess.

Dunno, never had a problem with removal as the trim wants to kinda spring up as soon as it's released from said clips due to the way its bent/formed. Usually the problem is reassembly where you've got to get the trim, and in your case the cowl, back under the clips.

Trim is a sort of fight it til it engages all of them, cowl needs some little shims or guides that get stuffed under the clips to help it along otherwise you'll be screaming for hours about how you'd gotten all but one lined up and then when doing that last one, 4 of the others popped loose again. (thread somewhere 'round here with pix)

Closeup pic of the clips with the one on the left being orientated 'right side up'.

The cowl engages between the 3 fingers at the bottom, the windshield trim pops into the little loop/hook thing at the top.

Me?
Who, what?

If you mean them clips, they ain't mine, nor do I have any laying about other than what's currently on my car.

You might try contacting boardmember torcia who took the picture, and at the time that was posted, had a small bagful of them.

I have a new question, on the side of my 71 spider there is a small emblem, it is a lower case (f) with a crown on the top, someone in the passed painted it. What is it supposed to look like? Is it painted or polished?

That is the coveted Pininfarinna 'f''. Pininfarinna is the design house responsible for the Alfa Spider styling. The 'f' badge are supposed have red and blue on them. Uri (116_Veloce) had some NOS ones for sale a while ago. I don't know if he still has any. They are not inexpensive items to replace.

Nice, and welcome aboard, great people here who will be glad to give you plenty of help. In responce to your question as to whether you paid to much for it, who knows? Has it ever been wrecked? is it straight? how much rust, rockers, floor pans, spare tire well, wheel arches? Does it shift ok? second gear grind? and last but certainly not least what are the compression numbers and what is the oil pressure when the engine has warmed completly up? Should be at, above would be better, the middle mark on the guage at 3000 rpm How is the interior, is the dash cracked? If all that is ok 2k would be a good price actually a great price!

"..what a poor design" WHAT A POOR DESIGN????
BLASPHEMY!! Those words should never be spoken about our addictions here.

Just kidding, of course. What a great "barn find." Welcome to this great world of Alfa ownership. You have come to the right place, plenty of great help here.
Just remember, when it comes to Alfas, there is no such thing as a "stupid question."

The body is streight, It shifts fine, oil pressue runs about 80 psi I think only rust spot I have found so far is under the drivers seat. I have only driven it about 3 or 4 miles so far, bad tires, no license or insurence, the seats need to be redone and yes the dash is cracked.

The poor design was refering to the fact that I had to dump all the oil out of the filter getting it out of the car. So far that is the worst I have come across.
